for Understanding Applications
ASG-Alliance is the application-understanding component of ASG-Existing Systems Workbench (ESW), an integrated life cycle solution for managing your existing systems. Alliance uses the Analytical Engine™ to populate the Application Knowledge Repository (AKR), revealing a wealth of information about your organization's applications. Alliance can help your organization increase its understanding of applications and define project plans for mainframe applications.
- Identifies data items that are related through redefines or assignment statements (synonyms)
- Provides attribute data about any data item in the application
- Identifies copybooks and local definitions of the same data item (homonyms)
- Enables search of any information stored in the AKR
- Facilitates rapid identification and content review of usage locations
- Searches at the program or application level
- Reports unused (dead) and discovered (undefined) components of the application
- Provides the option of capturing actions into scripts and replaying them
- Allows captured scripts to be modified for specific reuse
