ASG-TMON for CICS TS/VSE is designed from the ground up to support IBM's CICS TS platform in the VSE/ESA operating system environment. The product contains the same functionality and features as its predecessor, ASG-TMON for CICS/VSE, but the new design offers a substantial reduction in overhead. The package makes it possible to quickly solve performance problems such as CICS lockouts, storage shortages, and poorly designed application code by providing the ability to monitor real-time transactions and resource utilization using either the internal CICS screens or a standalone batch partition.
- Provides in-flight task information for all CICS tasks including task wait and exception states, exception explanations, quick cancellation of problem tasks, and segment task accounting
- Allows for automatic termination of tasks that exceed a user-defined threshold, such as storage consumption, CPU consumption, total I/O counts, and elapsed run time
- Offers views of VM storage, processor, and I/O contention information from a VSE perspective
- Provides a snapshot of VSE activity currently running in conjunction with the CICS environment
- Displays the name, partition identifier, plus CPU and I/O utilization of VSE jobs within a CICS session
- Provides detailed information on transaction statistics, system history, and environmental history, including over 75 different data elements for each transaction
- Provides CICS dynamic storage area (DSA) and GETVIS utilization statistics on a current and historical basis.
- Provides temporary storage and transient data statistics
- Runs outside the CICS partition to monitor multiple CICS partitions and support task cancellation
- Displays daily history and recent transaction activity for all CICS/TS partitions that are logging TMON data
- Collects information about database and 4GL utilization by application name
- Automates when to swap log files and automatically submit archive and reporting procedures for batch processing
