ASG-TeraCloud Storage Framework
for Storage Resource Management in Heterogeneous Environments
ASG-TeraCloud Storage Framework delivers the first Java-enabled enterprise Storage Resource Management (SRM) solution that administers and manages distributed and mainframe storage resources across the entire enterprise from a single point of control. It helps you plan more effectively, lower administration costs, and easily control your entire storage environment. Its reliable, easy-to-use centralized administration improves existing storage utilization, automates repetitive tasks, helps control future expenditures through accurate growth trending and forecasting, and enables drilldown capability from the enterprise down to the file.
Completely hardware and platform independent, ASG-TeraCloud Storage Framework centrally manages storage in any combination of complex heterogeneous environments, including DAS, NAS, SAN, and Mainframe-attached storage. Running as a storage subsystem within z/OS, it provides collector scheduling capabilities as well as handling automation duties, distributed agent requests, and servicing requests for pool/volume/controller statistics.
ASG-TeraCloud Storage Framework is always on duty with actionable scripts to find, migrate, archive, or delete aged data. Management by exception alerts you to storage hotspots without constant monitoring. Greatly expanded automation capabilities on Z Series allow “Collector Real-Time” automation to be performed on any storage data kept in the repository, keeping resources to a minimum while maximizing control on storage.
- Provides detail and summary reporting, history and trending capabilities, as well as saved user views and print publishing facilities
- Enables scheduled data collection that gathers data and place in databases
- Processes automation IF statements against data collected within the z/OS environment and determines if actions are necessary
- Captures history data for views and graphs within the interface
- Enables integrated storage reporting to visually understand the makeup of the storage architecture
- Research valid and non-valid entries in the storage subsystems to quickly detect invalid status and submit corrective action
- Provides action capabilities that give the user control of batch or scripted actions
- Allows logical pooling definitions to view an application set of data spanning all media types within the z/OS storage environment
- Defines logical groups of data that can dynamically reflect changes of the data usage patterns
- Applies policies against groups, including the “dynamic groups” feature
